Angkor is a sprawling archaeological site that was the seat of the mighty Khmer Empire for six centuries. This journey allows you to witness the best of Angkor by exploring this sprawling ruins at sunrise, which regarded by many as the quintessential Angkor experience. Fascinating stone mural sculptures make your eye wide open as adventure to these iconic Angkor temples include the ruins Angkor Wat, the  giant smiling faces of Bayon, the “Jungle Temple” Ta Prohm, and the “Citadel of Women” Banteay Srei. Go further to take a boat excursion on Tonlé Sap Lake, the Asia’s biggest fresh water lake, to discover a flooded forest and a village on stilts and experience “Indiana Jones” feel as you walk through the dense jungle Beng Mealea temple.

DAY 1: ARRIVAL INTO SIEM REAP / ROMANTIC SUNSET GONDOLA RIDE

Arrive at Siem Reap International Airport (#flight to be advised) and privately transfer to your hotel in town. Over the next few days, you will discover the delights of Siem Reap and its famous temples which make up the World Heritage listed Angkor complex which were part of one of the most powerful kingdoms to rise in Southeast Asia!

Late this afternoon, if you are interested about the Khmer Rouge, your guide will take you to visit one of the biggest Killing Fields in Siem Reap. At Wat Thmei you will see a small memorial stupa which contains the skulls and bones of victims killed during the regime of the Khmer Rouge during 1975 – 1979. Your guide will tell you more about the regime and share his personal experience during that dark period. Then take private sunset cruise (1 hour) in a beautiful Khmer traditional gondola rowing along the moat of Angkor Thom, near Angkor Thom’s Great Wall. Enjoy a sunset view reflecting from the water and climb to Prasat Chhrung on the Great Wall to see the beautiful sunset over the paddy fields. This evening enjoy your delicious dinner with Traditional Khmer Dance performance at a local restaurant.

DAY 2: SIEM REAP / FULL DAY ANGKOR TOUR & SUNRISE AT ANGKOR WAT

Today rise early to catch the spectacular sunrise over the wonderful ruins of Angkor Wat, regarded by many as the quintessential Angkor experience. Enter through the eastern gate and exit at the west gate avoiding the crowds. Discover the masterpiece of the Khmer empire, walking amid moss-covered, pathways and intricately carved bas-reliefs.

After breakfast at the hotel continue to visit the mysterious Ta Prohm, entangled in the surrounding jungle foliage. Climb over its crumbling stonework and marvel at the tree roots dripping down the temple’s walls and see weathered Buddha faces appear in bas-relief and giant tree roots seem to flow over stone walls. Then visit Neak Pean temple “the coiled serpents” before returning to your hotel to enjoy the hotel’s facilities and relax. Lunch served at a local restaurant.

Spend the rest of this afternoon discovering the ancient fortified city of Angkor Thom and its stunning Bayon Temple. The structure of the giant faces of Bayon temple is staggering in its construction and most Angkor specialists agree that it is one of the finest examples of classic Khmer architecture. Continue to Baphuon temple and then see the Terrace of the Elephant and Terrace of the Leper King to view their detailed stone carvings. Lastly, visit Preah Khan temple “Sacred Sword” or you may return to Angkor Wat for Kodak opportunity to catch this beautiful temple at sunset. Dinner served at a local restaurant.

DAY 3: SIEM REAP / FULL DAY TONLE SAP LAKE WITH A BOAT TRIP & BANTEAY SREI

This morning set sail on Tonle Sap Lake, the largest fresh water lake in Southeast Asia to see the floating villages and catfish farms dotting the landscape at Kampong Phluk. Cambodia’s Tonle Sap, or Great Lake, is one of the unique geographical wonders, as it offers visitors insights into the centuries-old traditions of riparian life and the natural splendour of the country. It flows into the Tonle Sap River, joining the Mekong River in Phnom Penh which creates the most unusual characteristic of the lake, reversing the water flow as the seasons changed and doubling the lakes size between July and October.

Afterwards experience a hosted home lunch by a local family in the nearby village. Take some rest after lunch before departing to visit Banteay Srei temple “the Citadel of Women”, a pink sandstone temple with beautiful ornate stone carvings which is seen nowhere else in Angkor. Stop at a local village along the way to meet local people and see how they produce their local commodities such as sugar palm.

This evening is free at your leisure. Independent dinner on your own arrangement.

DAY 4: SIEM REAP / DEPARTURE
